A handheld JVC camcorder from 2006?
Written by: Levi Currit
Pretty happy with myself, bought a JVC Mini DV handheld video recorder at Goodwill today for $13. Barely used. According to the manual, it’s missing a shoulder strap and the CD rom. I guess the other missing pieces are the media, which I ordered from Amazon. The best part, the tapes and SD cards cost me around $70, more than 5x the cost of the recorder. What can I say, I like old technology.
1/26/2024 - Bought memory cards and tapes for this thing, still can’t get it to work right. I guess there’s a reason it was at Goodwill. not giving up on it yet, there’s hope. Maybe it’ needs a good battery. Or something is just stuck inside from sitting for so long. We’ll see.
3/28/2024 - Realized I haven’t posted the latest. I picked up a battery, but it turns out there’s a broken piece inside the device. It’s a tension roller of some sort, needs a rubber gasket to keep it in place. Not sure if it’s causing the errors, but it definitely needs to be fixed.
1/17/2025 - Yeah, donated that. I don’t have the time to futz with it anymore. :D
